Welcome to the website of Mitch Evans - New Zealand race car driver
Born in 1994, Mitchell Evans has been a racing driver for most of his life. It's when you consider that at 14 years of age he has won more races and earned more titles than most of his competitors will do in a lifetime that you realize there is something much more here than just another successful New Zealand racing driver with a desire to be the best.
Alongside his list of past race and championship winning statistics are some remarkable achievements. Winning the Junior class at the CIK Trophy of New Zealand in 2007 aged 12 he beat two 15 year old "young guns" from Australia as well as the best New Zealand had to offer. Mitchell is the youngest to have competed at the Rotax Max World Karting Championships, ending up 13th from 72 and highest placed of the four Kiwis competing at the 2007 event. His first year in cars, Formula First, saw him 9th in the 2007/8 championship even though he missed two of the eight rounds. In April 2008 in his penultimate Formula First race, the one hour event at Manfield, he was comfortably leading with only a handful of laps to go when mechanical problems sidelined him. At the time he was ahead of Shane van Gisbergen, current Aussie V8 Supercar driver. Overcoming that setback he won his final Formula First race at the same meeting. more >> |
